Case Study #1

Problem

Several different buildings in the same vicinity that needed to share one computer system.  One of the buildings was across the street from the main building and separated by railroad tracks.  The other smaller buildings were located on the same side of the street, but did not have adequate shelter for equipment.

Analysis

The building across the street would best be served by a fiber connection.  The issues encountered were the permits required and liability issues with tearing up part of the street and railroad track to install the fiber.  The smaller buildings didn’t require a fiber connection so a wireless connection was suggested.

Solution

The technicians at Technical Edge, Inc. coordinated the entire effort.  We negotiated with the city for required permits.  We worked with the railroad company for permission and liability issues related to the installation of the fiber connection.  We contracted another local company to install the fiber cable.  We provided hardware and fiber specifications and purchased all equipment that was required.  The building across the street from the main building was connected to the network with minimal interruption for the client.  The smaller buildings were connected to the main building using a radio frequency wireless solution.  The equipment needed to be weather proofed.  We worked with companies to provide the equipment that would withstand the weather conditions.  We installed the solution without major disruption to the client.
