Case Study #3

Problem

A client needed custom software developed to interface between ADP (payroll) and Accounts Receivable.  The client leased employees and wanted to turn their payroll hours into the invoices for their clients.

Analysis

The client was using ADP for their Payroll and an accounting package from ACCPAC that included the source code.  Technical Edge could write a custom interface to import the ADP payroll data into a system that constructed individual invoices and send the receivables information to an accounting package that could manage cash receipts and open receivables.

Solution

Technical Edge analysts and programmers created an application program in Visual Foxpro (™ Microsoft) to accomplish the connection between ADP and the clients Accounts Receivable software.  Once the ADP records were imported, the program would construct the invoices based upon the payroll hours worked.  The operator would be able to add items to the invoice, delete items from the invoice and create a unique invoice format for each client and/or invoice.  All of the custom designed invoices were printed from the custom software.  When the invoices are marked as ready to be sent to the accounting software, the operator exports the invoice data to the accounting software.  The accounting software then handles all of the follow up receivables functions (cash receipts, over payment, under payments, late payments, etc.).  Also, several custom reports were written for the custom interface for management.  The accounting software was purchased with the source code so we were able to modify the accounting software to include some of our custom information on reports for receivables aging.
